Quando é preciso, sabe usar as circunstâncias. Um discurso com todos os ingredientes dos «pais fundadores» da UE que a rainha conheceu e, de algum modo, de quem foi 'cúmplice' na utopia. Nas linhas e nas entrelinhas, directa e veladamente, referências críticas aos paradoxos que dificilmente aceitamos como europeus. Discurso notável, quase um testamento.

But we know that we must work hard to maintain the benefits of the post-war world. We know that division in Europe is dangerous and that we must guard against it in the west as well as in the east of our continent. (...)”
